Hello everybody! How are you all? I am sorry for the break away from blogging but some pretty crazy things happened in my life over the past month (May or may not have included some casualties... oops!).
So, ironically, this post is about being motivated. We all struggle with this at the best of times and as I am fast approaching my GCSE's, what better time to write this post.
1. Start with the things you hate the most.
Whether it be chores, homework or anything else, by getting the worst out of the way it allows for time and space to do the things you want. This is very effective for homework, trust me! :)
2. Start as you mean to go on.
This essentially means that if you want to end on a high, start on a high. When it comes to being motivated, attitude plays a massive part. E.g. If you are in a good mood when doing your homework, it will seem less like a chore and will be easier to complete.
3. Stay focused.
A clear desk is a clear mind. You will be less likely to be distracted by that photo on your desk or that plant you haven't watered in months if it simply isn't there. Also, if you don't need to use the internet, shut down your computer and turn off your phone. As hard as this may be, it often serves as the best motivation! E.g. As soon as I finish this essay, I can go back on Twitter.
4. Take breaks.
Find out what times work for you. Personally, I study/work for 45 minutes and then I take a 15 minute break. I find that if I study any longer, my brain starts to wander and I loose interest.
5. Food and music.
Put on some music whilst you work to keep you focused. Some prefer classical, others cheesy pop but find out what works for you. I also find that by having a healthy snack and a drink to hand is great. It gives you one less reason to grab that 5 minute snack which ends up becoming a 2 hour internet surfing sesh.
I hope this helps at least one of you and I love you all very much. Thanks for staying with us, it means a lot!
Love and hugs,
